COVT&R AGM – Traumatic Brain Injury & Vestibular Injury
August 23-25th, Vancouver BC

After 12 long months of waiting, the most electric Optometric education event is upon us – the COVT&R AGM! And for the first time ever, the event will be held on the best, ahem, West coast in Vancouver BC. Having sampled a wide variety of events across our profession, it has become clear to me that the energy in the air at this event is different from anything you’ll come across. Decidedly and unapologetically progressive and positive, this opportunity to come together with our growing community of VT providers is truly one of a kind. Being Canadian, our challenges and trajectory differs from anywhere else in the world, making these opportunities to collaborate all the more special.

Along with our growing community, we also have a growing number of wonderful corporate partners who will be showcasing many of the new and advancing tools of our trade. Be sure to spend a little extra time with Eyecarrot Innovations, Right Eye and Vivid Vision, who have all committed to partnering with our organization to offer some very compelling benefits to our members.

For the first time ever, continuing education will feature a dedicated Vision Therapist stream taught by the revered Meredith Graham from Australia. Optometric education heavyweights Dr. Charles Shidlofsky, Dr. Curt Baxstrom and Dr. Jason Clopton will also be on hand to anchor the Optometric education series and provide valuable insight on Traumatic Brain Injury and Vestibular Injury.

Let’s be honest though, this is as much about fun as it is about the knowledge. Each night will feature social events that are not to be missed. Friday night will play host to our Wine & Cheese/Silent Auction where we will be looking to raise funds for Vision Therapy scholarships via our well received Fretz Fund. Our first year offering this scholarship has seen disbursement of nearly $8,000 across the country to deserving recipients, and in 2020 we’ll be looking to offer even more.

Saturday will be the anchor of our many social events where our always buzzing gala will see the graduation of nearly 40 students from our 3rd cohort of PVTAP grads. Wonderful meals, mingling and dancing into the night will be sure to make this a night to remember.

With so much to look forward to, it’s no wonder we’ve sold out for the third year in a row! The city of Vancouver better be ready, because the most energized conference of the year is about to make its way into town.

See you all in Vancouver!

Dr. Paul Rollett, OD, FCOVD
